Wesley Beal


Wesley Beal serves as Fulbright Visiting Associate Professor this fall, teaching two literature courses for the American Studies Programme and continuing his research on the academic novel. His scholarship focuses on modern and 20th-century American fiction, now with a cultural studies on U.S. higher learning that prompted this term at H.K.U. His monograph Networks of Modernism (Iowa UP, 2015) studied the network models in modernist experiments such as Jean Toomer’s Cane and John Dos Passos’s U.S.A. trilogy. He has published also in American Literary History, College Literature, Digital Humanities Quarterly, Genre, and INTERTEXTS. In his regular appointment at Lyon College, a small liberal arts college in the Ozark foothills of Arkansas where the U.S.’s south and midwest regions intersect, he teaches a broad range of courses in American literature, as well as the introduction to critical theory, world literature, and composition.
