Jews as Books and Books as Jews: On History, Memory, People and Objects

Focusing on Jewish Studies and specialising in the Talmud, Dr Septimus's research has explored a variety of aspects regarding the reading and interpretation of sacred books. His talk will centre on the mechanisms Jews have used to preserve historical memory.

This lecture is a collaboration between Connecting Memories and the American Studies Programme in the School of Modern Languages and Cultures at the University of Hong Kong.

Connecting Memories is a collaborative interdisciplinary research initiative opening up a space for
previously unconnected scholars to interact and share their perspectives on what memory means in the
context of their research.
