Short bio Liu Yuqing’s research interests encompass cultural studies and film studies. Currently, she is focusing on affectivity in virtual reality (VR) films, exploring how these films evoke affective experiences in viewers. She earned her BA in Chinese Language and Literature and a BFA in Art Theory from Peking University. Liu further advanced her studies at the same institution, completing an MA in Theory of Literature and Art. Additionally, she has a passion for poetry writing. Why HKU? HKU is renowned for its exceptional academic environment, which fosters a rigorous yet supportive atmosphere for scholars in the humanities. HKU’s international setting offers unique opportunities to broaden perspectives and cultivate a global understanding of film and cultural studies.
